Urban Sprouts partnered with LMNOP to create an off-grid outdoor teaching kitchen for the June Jordan School for Equity community garden—a space where students and their families can learn about gardening, cooking, nutrition, and environmental stewardship through hands-on experience. Designed as both a functional kitchen and an outdoor classroom, the project seamlessly connects food production, preparation, and shared meals within the garden itself.

The solar-powered kitchen operates independently of the electrical grid, while integrating composting systems and greywater collection to demonstrate sustainable resource management in action. Durable countertops, custom cabinetry, flexible workstations, and integrated storage support everything from harvesting and food preparation to cooking and community gatherings beneath the shaded canopy. LMNOP's ability to think sustainably and in phases allowed for Urban Sprouts to evolve their kitchen into a community resource for environmental education and connection.
